Prof. Liu Lianghua giving a lecture
At the invitation of the School of Teacher Education (School of Physical Education), Professor Liu Lianghua from East China Normal University gave an academic lecture titled “Types and Structures of Academic Writing” on the morning of October 22. Dean Zhang Fuwei presided over the lecture. Teachers from the School of Teacher Education attended.
Prof. Liu’s lecture centered on three aspects: types of academic writing, structures of academic writing, and move-step of academic writing. He introduced in detail the three types of writing: discursive essay (grand narrative), empirical report (big narrative), and empirical narrative (small narrative). He emphasized the relationship between writing methods and disciplines. Combining with the case of discursive essay, he expounded the structure and move-step of discursive essay, proposed the classification of discursive essays and the relationship of unity in opposition.
Nearing the end of the lecture, Prof. Liu interacted with the teachers and put forward his unique opinions and suggestions on the matters that need to be paid attention to in academic writing.
The lecture helped the teachers better understand the new perspective of discursive research and the move-step of academic writing. It provided a broader perspective of academic research and way of thinking, and further broadened the academic horizons of the participants.
