Professor Zhang Shiqing delivers a report on the 2nd CSIG Conference on Emotional Intelligence

The 2024 CSIG Conference on Emotional Intelligence was successfully held from December 6th to 8th, 2024 at Nanjing Institute of Technology in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, with more than 200 participants. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) and co-organized by the CSIG Technical Committee on Affective Computing and Understanding (CSIG-TCACU), Nanjing Institute of Technology, Southeast University, and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The conference has invited such renowned scholars as Professor Fu Xiaolan (Dean of the School of Psychology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Professor Lv Baoliang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (IEEE Fellow), Professor Hu Bin from Beijing Institute of Technology (National High-Level Talent), and Professor Tao Jianhua from Tsinghua University (Winner of National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars) to give keynote speeches. The conference covered various forms such as thematic forums, workshops and poster exchanges in the field of emotional intelligence research. Focusing on cutting-edge hot issues and the latest technological progress, it has fully demonstrated the innovative applications of emotional computing in multiple disciplines, fields, and scenarios.

Professor Zhang Shiqing, Dean of the School of Electronics and Information Engineering (Big Data Science) at TU, was invited to attend the conference and delivered an academic report titled “Multimodal Affective Computing and Depression Analysis” at the forum of “Affective Computing and Mental Disorder Diagnosis.” By comprehensively elaborating on the research achievements in the field of multimodal emotion computing and depression diagnosis in recent years, the research deeply explored the future development direction, which has attracted widespread attention and heated discussion from experts, scholars and students.

In addition, Du Xulong and Chen Ziqiang, master students from Professor Zhang’s team presented their papers published in LREC-COLING 2024 (CCF B-class conference) and Information Fusion (TOP of Chinese Academy of Sciences, IF=14.7), and had in-depth exchanges with peers through posters. Jin Chenyu, a first-year master student, has been accepted as the first author for a conference paper titled “Attention Based Audio Depression Recognition Integrated Handicraft and Deep Features.

The exchange at the conference can not only enhance the academic exchange with other domestic experts and scholars in the field of emotional intelligence, but also further expand the influence of Professor Zhang’s team in the academic community of emotional computing in China. The attending guests expressed that they would continue to strengthen cooperation and communication in the future, jointly promote the development and implementation of emotional intelligence technology, and help AI technology better serve the society.
