Prof. Yasin Orooji from Zhejiang Normal University delivers a lecture

Yasin Orooji, a Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang Normal University, at the invitation of the School of Life Sciences of TU, delivered an academic lecture titled “MBENES AND MXENES: FOR ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION” on April 15. The event, chaired by Li Junmin, Vice President of TU, was attended by Zhao Kai, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, Zong Enmin, Associate Dean of the School of Life Sciences, faculty representatives, and graduate students specializing in related research fields.

Prof. Orooji delivered a comprehensive overview of novel porous functional membrane materials, highlighting their applications in catalysis, sensing, and environmental pollution remediation. His lecture focused on the multifaceted chemical properties and versatility of MBenes/MXenes and their derivatives (e.g., hybrid composites) in these domains, with particular emphasis on optimizing surface characteristics to enhance multifunctional performance.

Additionally, Prof. Orooji explored the potential of MBenes/MXenes-based hybrid architectures in emerging fields such as environmental purification, electrochemical applications, pollutant detection (via electrocatalytic sensing and photocatalytic technologies), and membrane distillation and adsorption processes.

Following the presentation, faculty and students engaged in exchanges with Prof. Orooji, delving into technical details of material development and future research directions.
