Prof. Tang Longcheng from Hangzhou Normal University delivers a lecture

Prof. Tang Longcheng from Hangzhou Normal University, at the invitation of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering of TU, delivered an academic lecture titled “Silicone Polymer Composites: From Fundamentals to Applications” on April 29th. The lecture, presided by Huang Guobo, the Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, was attended by key faculty members and graduate students in the discipline.

Prof. Tang has long been dedicated to the research of silicone polymers and their functional structural composites. Through thorough market research, he has gained a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and application prospects of various composite materials. His team has achieved breakthroughs in the field of fire-resistant, heat-insulating, and early-warning integrated silicon-based nanocomposites centered around the design and synthesis of silicone polymers. They have developed flame-retardant early-warning coatings, heat-insulating and fire-resistant silica foams, ablation-resistant thermal protection materials, etc., which have been successfully applied in major fields such as aerospace and new energy vehicles.

During the discussion with the expert, Huang Guobo, Dean of TU’s School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, pointed out that faculty and students should not solely focus their research efforts in the laboratory but also “go out” to conduct investigations in enterprises, identify problems, grasp key points, and overcome difficulties.

This lecture provided valuable insights for the faculty and students of the school on how to transform research findings into industrial applications.
