Professor Liu Meng from Dalian University of Technology delivered a lecture

On September 16th, Professor Liu Meng, Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Technology at Dalian University of Technology, at the invitation of the School of Life Sciences, delivered an academic lecture titled “Principles and Technological Advances of Biological Pollution Detection in the Post Pandemic Era”. The lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Zong Enmin. Jiang Shengtao (Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office), Fu Yongqian and Li Yueling (Vice Dean of the School of Life Sciences), as well as teachers of relevant research field and postgraduate students attended.

Academic exchange

Starting from “Biological Pollutants and Human Health in the Post Pandemic Era”, Professor Liu combined typical cases of Norovirus and Ebola virus at home and abroad to systematically explain the potential harm of biological pollutants to human health. After interpreting the development trend of China’s water quality monitoring indicators from physical and chemical indicators to biological indicators, he elaborated on the importance and urgency of research on biological pollution detection, as well as the new challenges faced by the prevention and control of biological pollutants (including bacteria, viruses, etc.) in the post epidemic era. It also focuses on the current status, latest needs, and cutting-edge progress of detection technology for biological pollutants.

During the exchange session, participating teachers conducted in-depth discussions with Professor Liu on technical difficulties and research directions. The academic atmosphere was strong and the response was enthusiastic. Finally, Professor Liu expressed sincere expectations for the postgraduate students, encouraging them to delve deeply into their work and courageously climb the academic peaks with a passion for scientific research and a reverence for life.
