Professor Feng Shangshen from Zhejiang A&F University invited for academic report

Professor Feng Shangshen, former Deputy Party Secretary of Zhejiang A&F University and former Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory for Detection and Deep Processing Technology of Tools, Measures, and Cutting Tools, returned to Taizhou University for an academic exchange on October 20. He delivered an insightful and practical academic report chaired by Professor Chen Jigen, Vice Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and attended by Dean Professor Wu Jianbo, alongside many faculty and graduate students in related fields.

Report in Progress

Professor Feng focused on core challenges and industry pain points in fresh food preservation. He critiqued traditional detection methods for being destructive, time-consuming, and lacking real-time monitoring capabilities. Addressing consumer demand for “fresh, safe, and convenient” food, he introduced innovative research on intelligent spectral preservation LED lighting technology. This technology offers a dual breakthrough: non-contact accurate assessment of food freshness and active extension of shelf life, overcoming traditional limitations. Professor Feng detailed the “perception-decision-execution” technical concept and outlined the path from lab development to practical application. This technology promises robust support and equipment for food safety supervision, boosts public trust in food quality, and injects new momentum into the high-quality development of the fresh food industry.
