Professor Yue Wei from Central China Normal University, at the invitation of School of Teacher Education (Physical Education), delivered an academic lecture titled “Moving Beyond the Anthropocene Crisis: The Mission of Ecological Civilization Education in Our Era and Pathways for Its Advancement” on the morning of November 7. The lecture was presided over by Dean Zhang Fuwei, with Vice Dean Zhang Yingying and key research faculty members in attendance.

In the current Anthropocene crisis, ecological civilization represents a new direction for human civilization. Yue Wei’s lecture, drawing on his research experience and academic background, begins with the need for conceptual innovation, legal safeguards, curriculum restructuring, and evaluation optimization to deepen ecological civilization education. Taking the entire process of ecological education—knowledge transmission, value shaping, and behavioral guidance—as the main thread, he elaborates on the contemporary mission and practical pathways of ecological civilization education from the perspective of national strategy. He provides a detailed analysis of the significant importance of ecological civilization education for national sustainable development, youth growth, and social progress.
During the lecture, Professor Yue shared the educational case of “Ecological Little Citizens” in Yichang City, explaining the methods and measures for implementing ecological civilization education. He offered new insights and understanding of ecological civilization education from diverse perspectives, delivering an inspiring intellectual feast for the audience.
During the interactive exchange session, Professor Yue provided insightful comments on the topic selection, research direction, and research plans by seven teachers. He offered detailed answers and guidance, addressing the confusions encountered during the research process and laying a solid foundation for the teachers’ subsequent research applications.
