At the conference, Zhao Kai, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, stated in his speech that the school will leverage its disciplinary and talent advantages to support the construction of the ecological station. The school would further promote the integration of industry, academia, research, and application to contribute the wisdom and strength of higher education institutions to local ecological development. Professor Yang Wanqin, head of the technical support unit, emphasized that they would closely align with the needs of forest farms, focus on tackling key technological challenges, and ensure the quality of observational data to support the sustainable development of the ecological station with research achievements.
Subsequently, Associate Professor Cao Rui, a core technical member of the support unit, reported on the 2025 work for the Linhai Station and Tiantai Station. The report covered the construction goals and content of the ecological station, progress in team building, monitoring achievements, and other aspects. It highlighted the progress made in areas such as forest ecological structure and function, biodiversity, and carbon sink monitoring, and analyzed existing problems and directions for improvement.
Representatives from the construction units introduced their resource characteristics, management status, and cooperation intentions of their respective forest farms. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as optimizing observation indicators, promoting data sharing, joint project applications, conducting science popularization activities, and improving communication mechanisms. They would deepen practical cooperation and jointly promote the implementation of more research achievements.
Leaders from the Public Welfare Forest and State-owned Forest Farm Management Station of the Zhejiang Provincial Forestry Bureau affirmed the annual achievements of the two stations and put forward requirements for the next steps: first, to improve the quality of observation data; second, to promote deep integration between the stations and academic institutions; third, to expand scientific research service functions; and fourth, to improve long-term management mechanisms.
The participating parties stated that they would take this meeting as a new starting point to build Linhai Station and Tiantai Station into leading ecological observation and research benchmarks within the province.
