Undergraduate program Cyberspace Security approved

With the unveiling of “Notice on the Announcement of the Approvals and Filings Results of Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions for the Year 2023 by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China” (Edu. Letter [2024] No. 6), the undergraduate program Cyberspace Security (080911TK) applied by Taizhou University has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

The accommodation of the Cyberspace Security program is in line with the urgent demand from the national and regional societies for talent in intelligence and information technology. It is the achievement of Taizhou University’s implementation of the concept of “building academic programs based on industries and optimizing the layout of the programs”. In response to the needs of Taizhou’s “456” advanced industrial cluster and the construction of “Five Major Industrial City Areas”, the university has formed six major programs cluster construction directions in four disciplinary groups: pharmaceuticals and health care, ecology and human settlements, data and intelligent manufacturing, and humanities and social services. It encourages cross-disciplinary integration of disciplines and programs, and aims to expand and refine these six clusters. The Cyberspace Security program, which has been approved this time, belongs to the cluster of electrical and information engineering, and it has had a typical radiation effect. The university has implemented a “red-yellow card” system for programs, dynamically adjusting the program layout, and improving the mechanisms for program accommodation, warning, and exit. This time, the university’s application to revoke nine programs (directions) including marketing has also been approved by the Ministry of Education.

So far, Taizhou University holds a total of 51 undergraduate programs. The university will continue to uphold the principle of “optimizing structure, making good use of increments, highlighting characteristics, and serving industries”, and closely follow the socio-economic needs of the society. It will focus on optimizing the layout of disciplines and programs, deepening the integration of industry and education, aligning with national strategies, collaborating with local economies, and promoting high-quality development of the programs construction.
