She is motivated and progressive in learning; she is dedicated to work; she is courageous in front of challenges, and accumulates skills in research.

She is Ding Tangying from Class 5, Elementary Education of 2020, the winner of National Scholarship in 2021 academic year.

“Unremitting efforts makes bright future.” That is her motto, and the true picture of her college life.

From the second-class scholarship in freshman year to the national scholarship and the first-class scholarship in sophomore year, it is no easy task for a student who transferred her major from business English to elementary education to achieve such significant progress. But Ding has done so thanks to the expectations she cherishes.

It has been Ding's dream to become an elementary school teacher since she entered high school. But due to her poor performance in the university entrance examination, she was unable to make it to the teacher training program. After entering college, she put all her energy into her studies and successfully switched to the elementary education major in the second semester of her freshman year with the top score in her original major. She managed to rank fifth in intellectual performance and third in the comprehensive examination in her class despite the cut-throat competition. But that did not reach her goal. She said: "I never hold that severe competition is a derogative term. Instead, it means diligence. However, you cannot try hard aimlessly, there should be an effective way."

How do you work hard? Ding believes that the first thing is to be down-to-earth. She creates a quiet environment, allocates time wisely and makes good use of every minute, trying not to put off till tomorrow what may be done today. In order to overcome her weaknesses in mathematics, she consulted her seniors, previewed classes, made her study schedule according to her own situations, and solved problems in a targeted manner. In class, she kept up with the pace of the teacher, and after the class, she did extra exercises to consolidate her knowledge. In addition, Ding participated in academic competitions, sports and cultural activities, "I have faith in my overall ability. More activities can not only help keep myself fit, but contribute to my total scores in comprehensive assessment. With continuous efforts, Ding was ranked second in his sophomore year in her class in intellectual achievement and first in the comprehensive assessment, accomplishing the goals he had set for himself at that time.

Apart from her studies, Ding is also enriched by working as a student leader. In her class, she has served as deputy group secretary and deputy class president; in the college, she has been the backbone of the primary education student party branch as a reserve party member; in the school-level student organization, she has worked her way up from the director of the campus guard to the current lieutenant. No matter in which post, Ding has consistently been strict with himself to fulfill his duties to his utmost.

In terms of creating a class with good learning style, she mobilized students in the class to offer their suggestions and ideas, collected and assorted the supporting materials, and served as the respondent in the on-site selection. She worked together with other class members for creating a favorable academic style and strengthening class unity. Regarding assisting the branch to develop student party members, she meticulously checked and reviewed all the materials, completed each procedure in compliance with standards and requirements, and asked her teachers for advice when encountering difficulties to ensure the successful completion of this important and tedious work. To improve the efficiency and cohesiveness of the department, she created two groups, with the small one for recreation and the other for work. It both promoted harmony between classmates, and emphasized the organization and discipline of the student leaders to ensure that all work is completed on time.

Although she sometimes struggled to coordinate her study and work schedules, Ding has been conscientious and persistent in her duty, saying that being a student leader is not only a kind of service and dedication, but an exercise and enhancement. "As for my personal growth, my communication and leadership skills have been enhanced, and I can better lead my team to achieve good results in various competitions or group work. She said.

Being active and aggressive, she also had a good performance in the competition. After taking the elective course "Multimedia Work Design and Production" in her sophomore year, Ding became interested in multimedia production and signed up for the China Student Computer Design Competition with the intention of giving it a try. Although she was not good at computer designing, she did not give it up. She listened to the lectures on information technology, practiced with her computer on weekdays, communicated with the instructors when encountering problems, and spent a lot of time searching online for learning resources and good design software, watching tutorials, and learning technologies. Ding rose to the challenge and kept improving.

Hard work pays off. They fought all way from preliminary competition, provincial-level competition to the national one. During the revising stage, in order to make the animation more exquisite, Ding and her teammates studied Adobe Animate and other technical software, and polished it every day, doing their best to make the details perfect. As the defense in the final round, she repeatedly revised the defense script, accumulated experiences by watching the excellent defense videos in previous years, and cooperated with her team members to conduct numerous simulations, and finally won the second prize in the poster category and the second prize in the animation category of the 2022 China Student Computer Design Competition.

"Participating in computer competitions has helped me a lot in my professional learning and growth. A beautiful and exquisite PPT can make the course contents more detailed, and a good micro-lesson can make the knowledge points more concise, so as to better enhance the teaching effect. All those helps me become an excellent teacher." This is how Ding summarized what she gained from the competition.

Becoming a teacher is Ding 's steadfast career goal. Now in her junior year, she is still eagerly acquiring professional knowledge, constantly honing her skills as a teacher, and improving her comprehensive quality through competitions and her work experience as a student leader. With a clear goal in mind, Ding has been marching on the road of pursuing her dream!
