On the afternoon of May 16th, the competition for “Top 10 University Students” of the 2023 academic year was held at the Student Hall of Jiaojiang Campus. Present at the event were Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) TU Committee, Cai Haijiang, Member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) TU Committee and Head of the Publicity Department, and heads from relevant functional departments and secondary school. They attended the selection competition and served as expert judges.
The selection was launched in early April. Under the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness, 17 candidates were selected by secondary schools to join in the final selection competition.
At the selection competition, candidates showcased their wonderful university life with exquisite PPTs, from such perspectives as professional course learning, discipline competitions, scientific research achievements, class organization, and volunteer service. Chen Hongrui from the School of Humanities told his story of striving for excellence by learning, cultivating, and practicing; Peng Kerui from the School of Materials Science and Engineering shared his learning journey with the theme of “No Inferior to Anyone”; Huang Shiyi from the School of Art and Design showed her willingness to spread Taizhou’s intangible cultural heritage through her solid design skills; Cai Jiayi from the School of Electronics and Information Engineering expressed her aspiration to be a “polyhedral youth” in the new era who is diligent in learning, innovative, practical, and responsible; Li Xin from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture declared his desire to forge ahead on the path of rural construction with the reclamation spirit; Cao Shuhui from the School of Teacher Education (Physical Education) stated her intention to strive on the path of normal students with diligence, innovation and dedication. All the students have well demonstrated the spirit of young people in the new era, with their self-reliance, self-improvement, and hard work. Their rich learning and work experience as well as excellent performance have won rounds of applause from all teachers and students.
In the end, Xiang Fengri delivered a summarizing speech. Fully affirming their outstanding achievements, he also praised the 17 candidates for their spirit of youth and struggle. He put forward three hopes to his classmates: firstly, students should bear the top priorities of the country in mind, listen to the party, and follow the party; secondly, students should cultivate moral character and develop solid skills; thirdly, students should consciously take responsibility and have the courage to seek the truth via actions. He further pointed out that the power of role models is infinite, and more models are expected on the campus. He hoped that students could take this competition as an opportunity to promote learning through evaluation and competition. With solid knowledge, broad vision, and practical spirit, the students could become good youth in the new era with ideals, responsibility, diligence, and struggling spirit, so that they could build a harmonious, beautiful, energetic, and happy university, accelerating the construction of Taizhou University.
The activity was organized by TU’s Youth League Committee and Student Union. After selection, 10 students including Chen Hongrui, Yao Hongming, Tao Rui, Pan Libang, Cao Shuhui, Peng Kerui, Huang Shiyi, Li Xin, Cai Jiayi, and Zhang Xuan stood out as “Top 10 University Students” of the 2023 academic year. The results will be submitted to the University President’s Office Meeting for approval.
In the next stage, TU’s Youth League Committee will also publicize and showcase the award-winning students to highlight the power of role models, encourage the students to forge ahead, and cultivate themselves into better TU students with patriotism, reclamation spirit, and solid skills.
