TU held its “Top Ten Outstanding Students” award ceremony on the afternoon of May 8th at the Jiaojiang Campus Student Activity Center. Senior university leaders, including Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, and Cai Haijiang, Member of the Standing CPC TU Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, heads of key departments and heads in charge of student affairs from academic schools across the university attended the event and served as the judging panel.
The selection process, launched in early April, involved rigorous and fair nomination by each academic school, culminating in 14 exceptional finalists presenting their cases at the final event.

Showcasing excellence
Finalists delivered compelling presentations. They highlighted achievements across academics, research, competitions, leadership, community service, and cultural pursuits. Examples included:
Mao Xudong (School of Teacher Education/Physical Education): Took the initiative in championing the university’s dragon & lion spirit and preserving traditional Chinese culture.
Wang Yijia (School of Marxism): Embodied dedication and upward striving in her “youth dedicated to the Party.”
Yang Haiqin (School of Pharmaceutical & Chemical Engineering): Shared her inspiring journey from novice to record-setter, excelling in research and academics to become a true “all-rounder.”
Kang Zijian (School of Foreign Languages): Demonstrated “unity of knowledge and action” through thoughtful learning and active community engagement.
Lin Hangjun (School of Humanities): Told a vivid “chasing the light” story as a “decoder,” “boundary-breaker,” and “lighter.”
Meng Weijia (School of Medicine): Used a race metaphor (“start, curve, breakthrough” to “lead, endurance, sprint”) to illustrate her dedication to medical care and meticulous exploration.
Their heartfelt stories powerfully demonstrated that “struggle defines youth’s brightest hue.” From tackling tough courses to innovating in research, and from volunteering to leading initiatives, they exemplified the responsibility and drive of Taizhou University’s finest. Their experiences serve not only as personal triumphs but also as inspiration for every student: to learn diligently with their feet on the ground, while also dreaming big and serving their country.
Organized by the University Youth League Committee and Students’ Union, the event concluded with the selection of the ten winners: Mao Xudong, Wang Yijia, Yang Haiqin, Kang Zijian, Lin Hangjun, Meng Weijia, Xia Yihan, Lin Yuhan, Jiang Hongjing, and Lu Zedan. Rui Zhifei, Jiang Jiachen, Ye Wei, and Shen Chenkang received Nomination Awards. The results await final confirmation by the University President’s Executive Meeting.

Celebrating achievement
The event powerfully showcased the vibrant spirit and relentless drive of TU’s top students, embodying the new generation’s commitment to excellence and responsibility.
